HISTORY OF ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is an ancient form of healing that has a recorded history dating back over 2,000 years. However, many authorities argue that acupuncture has been practiced in China for more than 4,000 years. The first recorded attempt at conceptualizing and treating disease dates back to about 15OO BC during the Shang dynasty. Based heavily in Chinese philosophy, acupuncture has evolved into an alternative form of treatment for a variety of physical and emotional conditions. Acupuncture is a unique form of treatment which focuses on treating the patient in body, mind, and spirit, rather than concentrating on specific symptoms. The goal of acupuncture is to bring a balance between body mind energetic, bringing the yin and yang back into focus. Dr. Keushkerian has mastered acupuncture techniques that could help your chronic condition by achieving harmony and restoring health.
The basis of traditional Chinese acupuncture can be traced back to philosophies found in a book known by a variety of names including the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine, or the Canon of Medicine. This text was the basis for many philosophies of Chinese medicine that played a key role in the development of acupuncture techniques and theories. The concepts of Yin and Yang, and the five elements play two of the most influential roles in the development of acupuncture as a medical and therapeutic treatment.
YIN AND YANG
The theory of Yin and Yang uses the idea of opposing forces, to illustrate the concept of a balance within nature. The conclusion drawn from this theory is that good health entails the balance and harmony of all that is yin and all that is yang within the body. Acupuncture is based on the idea that when proper balance of these forces exists, the body has achieved a healthy circulation of the life force qi (chee). Qi is said to travel throughout the body in 14 different channels or pathways referred to as "meridians". Based on this concept, when the Qi within these channels becomes insufficient, or interrupted, the yin and yang become unbalanced and illness may result. Acupuncture uses key energy points on the body to find and stimulate the Qi within these channels, bringing back your natural balance and health.
